Useful test data
Create synthetic data shaped around the situation being tested, without starting from a copy of production data.
A developer tool for creating realistic synthetic test data without relying on copies of production data.
Currently in private development. Public downloads are not yet available.
I repeatedly needed better test data while working as a software engineer, but preparing it by hand was slow and production data was rarely the right answer. SID began as the tool I wanted in those situations.
The goal is straightforward: make it easier to prepare useful data for development and testing, including the imperfect cases where software often reveals its real problems.
Create synthetic data shaped around the situation being tested, without starting from a copy of production data.
Work with awkward and imperfect cases as well as the tidy examples that are easy to prepare.
Spend less time assembling test records by hand and more time on the behaviour that needs testing.
